Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have rejected an order from the French Football League (LFP) to pay Kylian Mbappe a disputed sum of €55 million, Soccernet.football reports.

The payment, which Mbappe claims is owed to him in wages and bonuses, has sparked a significant conflict between the 25-year-old striker and his former club.

On Thursday, the LFP ruled in favour of Mbappe, instructing PSG to pay the €55 million within a week.

However, the Qatari-backed club has firmly resisted the directive, insisting that the striker had previously agreed to forgo the money in August 2023.

PSG quickly responded to the ruling, stating that the matter would not end with the LFP’s decision.

“Given the limits of the Commission’s legal scope to make a full decision on this matter, the case must now be pursued before another court,” the club declared as per APNews. “PSG will look forward to presenting all the facts over the coming months and year.”

The legal dispute follows Mbappe’s departure from PSG in the summer, bringing an end to his seven-year stint in Paris.

Mbappe, who now plays for Real Madrid, referred the case to the LFP’s legal committee earlier in the week, seeking to resolve the issue over the unpaid sum.

Lawyers for both parties met on Wednesday, but with PSG refusing to comply with the LFP’s decision, the case appears set for further legal proceedings.
