Real Madrid skipper Luka Modric praised the attacking prowess of the LaLiga champions as they came from behind to secure a 4-1 victory over Espanyol at the Bernabeu on Saturday, Soccernet.football reports.
Espanyol surprisingly edged ahead in the 54th minute after a howler from the experienced Thibaut Courtois, but Dani Carvajal levelled matters just four minutes later when Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia failed to handle Jude Bellingham’s cross.
The introduction of Vinicius Junior some injected energy into Carlo Ancelotti’s team, as he set up his compatriot Rodrygo’s goal with 15 minutes left on the clock.

The Brazilian then added a goal of his own to extend the lead to 3-1 just three minutes later, before Kylian Mbappe wrapped up the win with his third penalty in as many LaLiga matches.
Although Modric acknowledged there was room for improvement, he also recognized the attacking strength that helped Real Madrid close the gap to within one point of league leaders Barcelona, who face Villarreal on Sunday.
“We played a very good game but it’s true that it was difficult for us to finish plays. We created a lot of chances but we have a lot of room for improvement,” Modric told Movistar Plus.
“I don’t know if it was our best or not but it was a great game, from start to finish. We must continue like today. To have Vinicius, Mbappe, Bellingham and Rodrygo is awesome; they are great.
“They and the whole team are doing everything right but we still can improve; we’ll keep going in the next few games until we feel we reach our true potential. This match can give us confidence.”
