England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford believes Harry Kane is on track to be remembered as the nation’s greatest player after Kane marked his 100th cap with a brilliant brace in England’s 2-0 victory over Finland in the Nations League, Soccernet.football reports.

Kane, who is already England’s all-time leading goalscorer, brought his international tally to 68 goals with two second-half strikes at Wembley.

After a quiet first half, the Bayern Munich forward opened the scoring with a thunderous shot off the underside of the bar, before adding a composed first-time finish from Noni Madueke’s pass.

The performance lit up Wembley and showcased why Kane continues to set new standards in the England squad.

When asked about Kane’s legacy, Pickford was full of praise. “More than likely,” he said when asked if Kane would go down as England’s greatest.

“It was written in the stars. It was a privilege for Harry to make his 100th cap. He played in my debut and these games are special for him and his family. It’s a special moment and a privilege for me to be a part of that too.”

Pickford also lauded Kane’s consistency in front of goal: “It was inevitable that he was going to score… He’s ruthless in front of it and he was (against Finland) even though their keeper had a very good game.”

Crystal Palace’s defender Marc Guehi echoed Pickford’s sentiments, praising Kane’s humility and hard work.

“He’s the epitome of hard work, humility,” said Guehi. “He’s achieved so much in his career so he’s an inspiration to so many young boys and girls watching.”
