Barcelona have seen their €61M bid for Dani Olmo knocked back by RB Leipzig despite having already agreed personal terms with the Spain international, Soccernet.football understands.

The Blaugrana have turned their attention to Olmo with priority target Nico Williams looking increasingly likely to remain with his current employers for at least another season.

Barcelona have reached an agreement on personal terms with the 26-year-old, who is said to be very eager for a return to Camp Nou.

Olmo and Barcelona have agreed on a six-year contract, but the Catalans are facing a big challenge convincing Leipzig to agree to a deal.

Barcelona’s offer includes a guaranteed fee of €55 million, plus €4 million in easy add-ons and €3 million in difficult add-ons, summing up to €61 million.

Although this is higher than the €60 million release clause in Olmo’s contract that recently expired, the offer is structured with more favorable payment terms for Barcelona, who cannot afford to pay the full amount upfront.

According to SPORT, Leipzig are unimpressed by Barcelona’s offer with the main issue for the German side being the proposed payment schedule.

Leipzig want to receive as much of the money as soon as possible, while Barcelona are looking to spread out the payments over a longer period, reportedly until the summer of 2025.

Despite this initial set-back, Barcelona remain in hot pursuit of the 26-year-old Spaniard with sporting director Deco focusing all his attention on this deal after missing out on Williams and further progress is expected in the coming days.
