Former Chelsea and Juventus manager Antonio Conte has been appointed the new boss of Napoli on a three-year deal.

The 54-year-old has not managed a club since he left Spurs by mutual consent in March 2023 after 16 months in charge.

Here Soccernet.football highlights ten most memorable moments in Conte’s 17-year coaching career.

1. Arezzo’s Remarkable Turnaround
In 2007, Antonio Conte achieved an early career highlight with Arezzo in Serie B. Arezzo was Conte’s first job as a head coach after he retired from playing and working as an assistant manager for Siena alongside Luigi De Canio in the 2005–06 season.

Conte was sacked barely three months into the campaign after a poor start to the season but he was reinstated as head coach in March.

The young manager engineered a dramatic turnaround, leading the team to five consecutive wins and securing 19 points from 7 matches. Despite Arrezo ultimately being relegated, Conte showed off his ability to galvanize a struggling team and nearly pull off an improbable escape.

2. Promotion with Bari
Conte’s tenure at Bari was transformative. Taking over in December 2007, he lifted the team from a relegation battle to mid-table safety.

The following season, Conte’s Bari won the Serie B title, earning promotion to Serie A in what was Conte’s first major managerial honor, cementing his reputation as a rising star in Italian football.

3. Reviving Siena
In 2010, Conte took charge of Siena and worked his magic again to successfully secure their promotion to Serie A.

By this time, there was no longer any question about his ability to consistently drive teams to success. Conte’s tactical acumen and motivational skills, vital traits that would define his later successes, became evident. It was time to step up and coach the big boys

4. Unbeaten Season with Juventus
Conte’s first season with Juventus in 2011-12 was nothing short of spectacular. He led the team to an undefeated Serie A campaign, the first since the league’s expansion to 20 teams.

Juventus’ dominant defence and Conte’s innovative 3-5-2 formation were pivotal, re-establishing the club at the pinnacle of Italian football.

5. Juventus’ Three Consecutive Titles
Under Conte, Juventus clinched three consecutive Serie A titles from 2011 to 2014. His tactical innovations and the squad’s disciplined play, especially in defence, were key to their dominance.

The third title, won with a record 102 points, underscored Juventus’ superiority and Conte’s managerial prowess.

6. Italian National Team Resurgence
As Italy’s manager from 2014 to 2016, Conte reinvigorated the national team. He secured qualification for Euro 2016, where Italy impressed with victories over Belgium and Spain.

Despite being eliminated by Germany in the quarter-finals, Conte’s tactical brilliance and the team’s spirited performances earned widespread acclaim.

7. Premier League Triumph with Chelsea
Conte’s first season at Chelsea in 2016-17 was historic. He guided the team to the Premier League title with a then-record 30 wins out of 38 matches.

Chelsea’s remarkable 13-game winning streak mid-season and Conte’s tactical masterstroke of switching to a 3-4-3 formation were instrumental in their success.

8. FA Cup Victory with Chelsea
In 2018, Conte led Chelsea to an FA Cup triumph, defeating Manchester United 1-0 in the final.

This victory was a testament to Conte’s ability to inspire his team in crucial matches, adding another prestigious trophy to his collection.

9. Ending Juventus’ Dominance with Inter Milan
Appointed Inter Milan’s head coach in 2019, Conte ended Juventus’ nine-year Serie A title streak by leading Inter to the 2020-21 championship.

Conte made a huge statement with this triumph, Inter’s first league title in 11 years as he helped to break Juventus’s monopolies which he had played a key role in installing.

10. Revitalizing Tottenham Hotspur
Conte’s brief but impactful tenure at Tottenham Hotspur saw him lead the team to Champions League qualification in the 2021-22 season, a significant achievement for a club that had struggled in previous campaigns.

He left Spurs by mutual consent last year after criticising the London club’s ambition.
