Atalanta have had a relatively successful 2023/2024 campaign, securing Champions League qualification ahead of next season as well as reaching the Coppa Italia final where they fell just short against Juventus.

The Nerazzurri have one final shot at winning silverware this season but an unbeaten Xabi Alonso-led Bayer Leverkusen stand in their way and it will certainly require a mammoth effort to overcome the irrepressible Die Werkself.

Soccernet.football has ranked Atalanta’s best players of the 2023/2024 campaign.

5. Ederson

The Brazilian midfielder has been a regular feature in Gasperini’s Atalanta setup in the Serie A this season, making 35 appearances for the Nerazzurri and starting in 31 of those matches.

Ederson has been energetic and dominant in the middle of the park for Atalanta this season, operating as a destroyer when his team is out of possession and driving them forward when they have the ball.

Ederson has scored 6 goals and provided 1 assist for Atalanta and his efforts have earned him a call up to the Brazil national team ahead of the Copa America.

4. Gianluca Scamacca

The Italian joined Atalanta from West Ham United last summer after failing to find his feet in West London and his move to Bergamo has proved to be a positive one for the Nerazzurri.

Scamacca is the focal point of Gasperini’s attack and the 25-year-old striker has been crucial for Atalanta, scoring vital goals for his team in the Serie A as well as in the Europa League.

The Italy international is enjoying fine form ahead of Atalanta’s Europa League final clash with Bayer Leverkusen and the Euros. He has contributed 17 goal involvements across 27 Serie A appearances for the Nerazzurri this campaign.

3. Ademola Lookman

Atalanta secured Lookman’s signature from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth €9.35 million and the Nigeria international has since gone on to become one of the Nerazzurri’s most productive attackers.

This season, Lookman has been a constant attacking threat for Atalanta whenever he has been on the pitch, causing problems for opposition defenders, providing scoring opportunities for teammates and dispatching some chances himself.

The 26-year-old Nigerian, known for his versatility has notched 9 goals and provided 6 assists across 29 Serie A appearances for Atalanta this season, including 5 MOTM performances.

2. Charles De Ketelaere

After failing to hit the ground running in his first season in the Serie A with AC Milan, the Belgian has seen his fortunes improve significantly since joining Atalanta on loan last summer.

De Ketelaere has found his feet in Bergamo, going on to become one of Atalanta’s standout performers this season after several impressive displays and vital contributions.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder’s performances for the Nerazzurri this season has led the club to seriously consider exercising the option to make his loan deal a permanent transfer.

De Ketelaere has scored 10 goals and created another 6 across 33 Serie A outings for Atalanta this season.

1. Teun Koopmeiners

The Dutchman, no doubt Gasperini’s standout performer has enjoyed a very fine season in Atalanta colours and his impeccable form for the Nerazzurri has attracted top clubs across Europe who are interested in acquiring his services.

Koopmeiners has established a reputation for himself as one of Europe’s most prolific midfielders in recent seasons, being one of only two players to reach double figures from midfield over the last two campaigns in Europe’s top five leagues alongside Phil Foden.

The 25-year-old Dutch international has asked to be allowed to leave at the end of the season as he wants to try out a new challenge. He has scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists in 32 Serie A appearances for Atalanta this season.
