Raphael Varane will leave Manchester United this summer when his contract expires, ending his three-season stint at Old Trafford, Soccernet.football reports.

Manchester United made the announcement on their official website today, Monday, May 14.

The former France international joined United from Real Madrid in August 2021 and has made 93 appearances for the club.

Varane, a World Cup winner, was part of the team that won the Carabao Cup in 2023, United’s first major trophy in six years. The 31-year-old has scored twice during his time at the club.

In the Premier League, Varane has made 67 appearances, starting in 58 of those matches.

He has been sidelined since United’s 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on 4 April due to injury but is working on his recovery and hopes to return before the season ends.

United still have Premier League fixtures against Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion, and will face Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup final on 25 May.

Varane began his professional career at French club Lens, making his debut in 2010 at age 17.

After one season, he moved to Real Madrid, where he played for 10 seasons and won 18 trophies, including three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, four UEFA Champions League titles, and four FIFA Club World Cups.

In 2021, he left Real Madrid to join Manchester United.
