Arsenal legend and Enyimba chairman Nwankwo Kanu has expressed his satisfaction with the club’s January transfer business as they aim for a top-four finish in the Nigeria Professional Football League, Footynaija.com reports.
The Aba-based side has struggled for consistency this season, winning just eight of their 24 league games. That form has left them in 11th place with 34 points—14 adrift of league leaders Remo Stars—effectively ending any hopes of securing a record-extending 10th league title this term.

However, Enyimba remain in contention for a continental qualification spot, sitting just five points behind third-placed Rivers United, who currently occupy the final ticket for CAF club competitions. With 14 matches left in the campaign, Kanu’s side is determined to close the gap and mount a late charge.
To bolster their squad for the crucial run-in, Enyimba have made significant additions in the January transfer window. The club has reinforced all areas of the pitch, bringing in defenders, midfielders, and attacking options.
Among the new arrivals is centre-back Afolayan Peters from Heartland FC, while left-back Solomon Onome has also joined to strengthen the defence. In midfield, Opeoluwa Olufemi and Gozie Umeh arrive from Sunshine Stars, with Quadiri Olusunkanmi making the switch from Heartland. Striker Junior Lokosa, a former NPFL top scorer, adds firepower up front, while defender Ebube Michael and Nelson Michael—who previously played in Ethiopia with Shashemene Kanema—complete the new-look squad.

Speaking on the club’s transfer business, Kanu expressed confidence in the new signings, believing they can help turn Enyimba’s season around.
