Chelsea have reached an agreement with Brazilian club Palmeiras to sign 17-year-old forward Estevao Willian for €65m, Soccernet.football understands.

The Stamford Bridge giants have been following Estevao for some time. After missing out on his teammate Endrick, who signed with Real Madrid, Chelsea were determined to secure Estevao, whom they regard as a generational talent.

Estevao, considered one of Brazil’s most promising young players, has already made several appearances for Palmeiras’ first team.

This move marks a significant shift in Chelsea’s recruitment strategy under new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, focusing on young talent from around the world, especially in South America.

Estevao’s transfer, reported by journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, will be the most expensive in Brazilian football history, surpassing Endrick’s move to Madrid. Merlo confirmed on social media platform X that Chelsea’s final offer of €65m, with no additional conditions, was accepted by Palmeiras.

Despite the agreement, Estevao will not join Chelsea until 2025, when he turns 18. His performances in Brazil, including a recent goal and a Copa Libertadores appearance against future Chelsea player Kendry Paez, have drawn significant attention.

While it is uncertain how Estevao will fit into Chelsea’s first team, his signing is seen as an exciting development for the club’s future.
