Nigerian striker Edna Imade has been crowned the December Liga F Player of the Month, beating a host of stars from Spanish football’s elite, including Real Madrid and Barcelona stars, Soccernet.football reports.

The announcement was made by Liga F on Monday, to highlight a moment of personal triumph for the Granada CF forward.

Imade’s December form was nothing short of spectacular, as she netted two crucial goals in just two matches. Her performances solidified her position as the league’s second top scorer, with nine goals in 13 games this season.

She has already bettered her last season tally of five goals in 28 league games.

The Nigerian forward’s clinical displays have been a driving force behind Granada’s impressive rise to sixth in the Liga F standings.

The shortlist for the prestigious award included high-profile players such as Real Madrid’s Signe Bruun and Barcelona’s Esmee Brugts.

Fans voted from December 18 for their favorite among nominees that also featured Amaiur Sarriegi (Real Sociedad), Jone Amezaga (Athletic Club), Romane Salvador (Espanyol), and Andrea Álvarez (Eibar).

Imade’s win is her first since making her league debut last year, boosting her growing reputation as one of the league’s standout performers.

The official presentation of the award will take place on January 18 at Granada CF’s Sports City, ahead of their match against Costa Adeje Tenerife.

The recognition caps an incredible month for Imade, who played a pivotal role in securing three consecutive victories for Granada in December.

These wins included a commanding 5-0 triumph over Deportivo ABANCA, a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Madrid CFF, and a thrilling 4-2 win over Sevilla FC in the Cup.

Imade now joins an illustrious group of Liga F Player of the Month award winners this season, including compatriot Rasheedat Ajibade (September), as well as Spanish icons Alexia Putellas (October) and Patri Guijarro (November).
