Manchester United legend Roy Keane has not held back in his criticism of young forward Alejandro Garnacho, who recently refused to celebrate after scoring against Leicester City, Soccernet.football reports.

Garnacho’s muted reaction reportedly stemmed from feeling disheartened by criticism from a section of United fans.

The issue began when Garnacho, who has recently faced fan backlash, was approached by a supporter outside the stadium.

After scoring a superb goal against Leicester, the Argentinian international opted not to celebrate, a decision that caught the attention of many — including his teammate, Bruno Fernandes.

“Garnacho scored a banger but didn’t celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans,” Fernandes explained post-match.

“I told him people will always moan, but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do. I told him to celebrate; it was something special. He is a special player. We have difference makers. They are the ones who win us games.”

On The Overlap, Keane did not mince words, admonishing Garnacho’s reaction as lacking respect for United fans.

“They’re playing the game to score goals. They’ve got fans who travel and pay fortunes to get there,” Keane began.

“He’s on about, ‘someone’s had a go at me.’ People have travelled. You’ve scored a brilliant goal, you can enjoy it. He can make his points on social media.

“But celebrate a goal; that’s what the fans travel for. People make sacrifices to travel to watch Man United… If a young person can’t enjoy scoring a goal for Man Utd, do you know what he should do? Get a job somewhere else.”

Fellow pundit and ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright offered a different perspective, defending Garnacho and attributing the reaction to his youth.

However, Keane stood firm, asserting, “Idiots everywhere, there’s them f****** idiots everywhere. My point is, sorry for swearing, but when you score a goal, all that should be gone. I just scored a goal in this moment. If he’s going to be upset with that, get a different job.”

Manchester United will open a fresh chapter after the international break with new manager Ruben Amorim already in England to take charge.
