Alex Iwobi has drawn level with Mohamed Salah on 328 Premier League appearances, putting the Fulham midfielder joint-second among African players in the competition’s history and leaving him 25 games short of Kolo Touré’s record, Footynaija.com reports.
Iwobi reached the landmark during Fulham’s 1-0 win away to Coventry City on Saturday, with Oscar Bobb scoring the only goal in the 80th minute. The Nigerian started the match before coming off in the 74th minute, helping his side secure a second consecutive league victory.
The achievement reflects a career that has taken Iwobi through Arsenal, Everton and Fulham since his Premier League debut in October 2015. He came through Arsenal’s academy before moving to Everton in 2019 and joining Fulham in September 2023, where he has continued to add to his top-flight appearances.
Iwobi joins Salah behind Kolo Touré
The latest number place Iwobi alongside Liverpool forward Salah on 328 appearances, with former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Kolo Touré leading the African list on 353. Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha follow on 305 appearances each, while former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi recorded 298.
Earlier reports indicate that Iwobi had become the most experienced Nigerian player in Premier League history after moving past Ameobi during the 2025-26 season. His latest milestone puts him level with one of the most productive African forwards the competition has seen.
At 30, Iwobi has time to add to his tally as Fulham continue their campaign. He would need another 26 appearances to move beyond Salah on the list and would then need 25 more to match Touré’s total from his current position.
For a player who began his senior career at Arsenal, the record is another measure of his longevity in English football. His next appearances will determine how soon he can turn joint-second into outright second, and how close he can get to Touré’s mark.
