Former Fenerbahce forward Bulent Uygun has raised concerns about Victor Osimhen’s performances since returning from injury, claiming the Super Eagles striker is yet to regain full fitness, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen suffered a groin injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir in September, a setback that forced him to miss several club matches and Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The 27-year-old returned to action against Kasımpasa earlier this month, providing an assist in a 3-1 victory, but struggled to make the same impact when Galatasaray suffered a 4-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League.
Uygun believes the Nigerian’s eagerness to make an immediate impact after his recovery has exposed a lack of coordination, while also questioning his reactions towards teammates during matches.

“Osimhen has a certain playing style built around him,” Uygun said, according to quotes on Habersarikirmizi.
His desire to do a lot after his injury, coupled with his body’s lack of coordination, and his tendency to yell at his teammates after numerous mistakes, even his own, shows he’s still not ready.”
The former Fenerbahce skipper also pointed to difficulties in Osimhen’s movement, arguing that the striker has not yet returned to the level expected of him.
“Even in the chances he got, he struggled to maintain his footwork in 4-5 steps. He’s just returned from a serious injury, which is causing him to remain out of form,” he added.

The criticism comes after Osimhen made a prolific start to the 26/27 campaign, scoring six goals in his opening six Super Lig appearances before his injury interrupted his momentum.
Galatasaray have been managing his return after the setback, with the forward now looking to rebuild his rhythm as the Turkish champions continue their domestic and European campaigns.
Osimhen will hope to answer the concerns on the pitch by rediscovering the goalscoring form that made him arguably Galatasaray’s most important attacking figure before his spell on the sidelines.
