Bursaspor manager Mustafa Er has praised Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho following his record-breaking scoring run in the Turkish second division, Footynaija.com reports.
Iheanacho made Turkish football history last week after scoring in 10 consecutive league matches, surpassing the previous nine-game benchmark shared by former Turkish forwards Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı.
Reacting to the milestone, Er admitted that extending such a run would be difficult, but expressed hope that his striker could keep finding the net.

“It’s a very difficult record to break. Our wish is for him to extend this streak even further. He is extremely happy, has great friendships, and is working incredibly hard,” the Bursaspor boss said, per Bursasporx.com.
However, Er was keen to emphasise that Iheanacho’s individual brilliance should not overshadow the contributions of the rest of the team or the work done behind the scenes by the club.
The manager also praised Bursaspor’s hierarchy for bringing a player of Iheanacho’s quality to the Turkish second tier and helping him settle into his new environment.

“It would be unfair to attribute success to just one player. To judge it solely through Iheanacho would be unfair to both the team and the club,” he added.
“The contributions of his teammates cannot be ignored. I also congratulate our management for bringing a Premier League-quality player to the team and managing his psychology correctly.”
Iheanacho’s goals have helped Bursaspor establish themselves among the leading promotion contenders, with the club sitting second in the Turkish First League standings after 10 matches.
With automatic promotion places at stake, Er will hope his in-form forward can maintain his remarkable consistency as Bursaspor look to sustain their push for a return to the Turkish Super Lig.
