Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis has been handed a clear challenge by Brøndby head coach Thomas Norgaard following his recent return to the club’s first-team squad, Footynaija.com reports.
Dennis spent part of the late summer training individually as he explored a potential move away from the Danish club, but a transfer failed to materialise and the 28-year-old has now been reintegrated into the squad.
The forward made his first unofficial appearance under Nørgaard in a training match against IK Sirius, coming on as a second-half substitute as he continues his efforts to regain full match fitness and adapt to the team’s tactical demands.
Norgaard admitted he had to give Dennis some extra guidance during the forward’s return, with the Brøndby boss stressing that the Nigerian still has work to do after spending time away from the group.

“I shouted at him a bit, mostly to get him to fit into the team context. There’s no doubt that he’s an individualist who’s been away for a while,” Norgaard told Bold.
The Brøndby boss added that Dennis received some extra support during his return and believes the forward was eager to make an impression during his 30-minute appearance.
However, Norgaard made it clear that Dennis will not be guaranteed a place in the matchday squad and must prove himself through his performances and fitness.

“If the players are considered good enough and fit enough to play, then sometimes we have too many, and some have to be left out,” he explained.
“If you recommend yourself, you get into the match squad. That also applies to Dennis.”
Dennis joined Brøndby on a free transfer in January 2026 and signed a contract that runs until June 2028.
The former Nottingham Forest, Watford and Club Brugge forward will now hope to build his fitness and convince Norgaard that he deserves regular opportunities as he looks to revive his career in Denmark.
