Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has been ruled out of Hamburg’s friendly against Copenhagen as he continues his recovery from a knee problem, Footynaija.com reports.
Moffi will miss Sunday’s clash with the Danish side after Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin confirmed that the Nigerian forward has yet to return to full team training.
The 27-year-old has featured in all four of Hamburg’s Bundesliga matches this season, making the starting on two occasions since completing his summer move from French Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice.
However, Moffi is still searching for his first goal for the German club after gradually settling into life in the Bundesliga. The striker started Hamburg’s recent league victory over Cologne but subsequently experienced a reaction in his knee.
Polzin provided an update on Moffi’s condition while speaking ahead of the Copenhagen clash.

“With Terem, the situation is that the joint has reacted a little. We have to see how things develop for him over the course of this week,” Polzin explained, via OneFootball.

The Hamburg boss’ comments suggest the Super Eagles forward will need to continue his recovery before returning to full training with his teammates.
Moffi will now hope to make sufficient progress during the international break and be available when Hamburg return to Bundesliga action against Hoffenheim on October 10.
The former Lorient and Nice striker joined Hamburg during the summer in a deal worth around €2.5 million after spending the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese champions Porto.
Moffi was part of Nigeria’s squad that won the 2026 Unity Cup but failed to make it into Eric Chelle’s squad for the recent AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The Hamburg forward will now focus on recovering fully from his knee problem as he looks to return to action and work his way back into the Super Eagles setup.
