Nigeria Premier Football League side Ikorodu City have expressed their delight after Michael Atata and Aderemi Adeoye received invitations to the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international friendly against Russia, Footynaija.com reports.
The two Ikorodu City players were included in Eric Chelle’s latest 24-man squad for Nigeria’s October 6 encounter against Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
Their invitations represent another opportunity for the NPFL stars to showcase their abilities at the international level, with Chelle handing opportunities to a number of domestic league players.

Atata has established himself as an important figure between the posts for Ikorodu City, while Adeoye has continued to develop as one of the club’s promising midfield talents.
The goalkeeper enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, recording 16 clean sheets in 32 domestic league appearances, while his strong performances have earned him recognition at the national level.
Adeoye, meanwhile, returns to the Super Eagles setup after previously making his senior international debut during the Unity Cup tournament earlier this year.
The midfielder’s inclusion highlights his rapid progress following his emergence in the NPFL, where he has continued to gain valuable experience.
Reacting to the invitations, Ikorodu City celebrated the duo through a post on their official X account.
“We’re honoured to have Michael Atata & Aderemi Adeoye called up to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the upcoming international games.
“Congratulations, boys!
“Go on with pride & do us proud!”
The friendly against Russia will provide Atata and Adeoye with another opportunity to impress the national team coaching staff and potentially stake a claim for their involvement in future competitive matches.
