Millwall boss Alex Neil says Femi Azeez is not close to leaving the club, despite interest from Premier League and European teams, Footynaija reports.
Azeez, 25, was forced off after 30 minutes in Millwall’s 2-0 win at Bristol City on Saturday with a hamstring problem. Neil has now confirmed that the injury is not serious.
“It’s not significant, no,” Neil said. He described it as a Grade 1B-type injury and expects the Nigeria winger to be out for “a week or two”.
The injury comes as Azeez attracts interest from Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull City and clubs in Europe. Hull, who won promotion to the Premier League after beating Middlesbrough in the play-off final, have been linked with the winger since his strong 2025-26 season.
Azeez scored 11 goals and made eight assists in 35 Championship appearances last season. He started both legs of Millwall’s play-off semi-final against Hull, which the Lions lost 2-0 on aggregate.
Neil was asked by NewsAtDen per Southwark News if the Bristol City match could have been Azeez’s final game for Millwall. He said there are no talks at present that would see the winger leave immediately.
“As it stands right now, we’re not in negotiations where Femi’s going to leave tomorrow,” Neil said. He added that “there is interest in Femi” and that the club will see what happens before the transfer window closes.
Azeez is under contract with Millwall until June 2028. His short injury lay-off means his next steps could depend on both his recovery and the transfer market.
