Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has revealed that competing in Serie A is a source of great pride, with the Nigerian describing Italy’s top flight as one of the best leagues in the world, Footynaija.com reports.
Okoye established himself as an important figure for Udinese last season, making 30 league appearances and keeping 10 clean sheets as the club secured another campaign in the Italian top flight.
The 26-year-old is now looking forward to taking another step forward with the Bianconeri, although he is refusing to get carried away with predictions about where they can finish next season.

“Everything is possible,” Okoye told The Guardian, per Complete Sport.
“But I think we should talk about that again in February or March. First we have to get the basics right and take it game by game. Then we’ll see where we are.
“We certainly have the quality, the players, an excellent staff, and a solid club behind us. Udinese is a club where a player can really grow and make that leap in quality.”
Okoye also spoke proudly about his experience of playing in one of Europe’s major leagues, insisting that the level of competition continues to motivate him.
“For me, Serie A remains one of the best leagues in the world and I’m grateful to be part of it,” he added.
“The higher the level of the league, the happier and prouder I am to play in it. We’re working hard and can’t wait to compete against the best.”
With another Serie A campaign approaching, Okoye will be hoping to build on his impressive numbers from last season and further establish himself among the league’s best goalkeepers.
