Middlesbrough are weighing up a potential summer move for Super Eagles midfielder Aderemi Adeoye following the youngster’s impressive rise with Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Ikorodu City, Footynaija.com reports.
The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is currently on trial with the Sky Bet Championship club as he looks to secure a move to English football ahead of the 26/27 campaign.
Adeoye emerged as one of Ikorodu City’s standout performers last season, helping the Lagos-based club secure a fourth-place finish in the NPFL.

His performances earned him great recognition, with the youngster praised for his work rate, defensive awareness and ability to cover ground effectively in midfield.
The midfielder’s impressive displays at club level also caught the attention of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who handed him his first senior international call-up for the Unity Cup tournament in May.
Adeoye was one of eight home-based players invited for the competition and went on to make two substitute appearances for Nigeria, featuring in the victories over Zimbabwe and Jamaica.

Reports indicate that Middlesbrough are now assessing the teenager before deciding whether to make a permanent move for his services. A successful trial could see the Championship club complete a deal for the highly-rated midfielder this summer.
Adeoye is currently valued at €50,000 by Transfermarkt, although Ikorodu City are expected to demand a significantly higher fee before sanctioning his departure.
A move to Middlesbrough would represent a major step in Adeoye’s young career and continue the club’s history of featuring Nigerian internationals, with Super Eagles stars such as John Obi Mikel, Kenneth Omeruo and Kelechi Iheanacho previously representing the English side.
