Victor Osimhen gave viewers a moment they will not forget after making a surprise video call to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, Footynaija reports.
The Super Eagles striker was appearing on a private edition of the popular quiz show hosted by Frank Edoho when he was asked a tricky football question. He needed to name the exact number of goals Drogba scored for Chelsea during his two spells at the Premier League club.
Osimhen knew the Ivorian star had scored 164 goals but instead of guessing, he decided to use his “Phone a Friend” lifeline in the most exciting way possible by calling Drogba himself. The former Chelsea captain answered the video call to the delight of Osimhen. Edoho, a well-known Chelsea fan, warmly greeted Drogba and praised him for the impact he made in African football and at Chelsea.
Drogba then revealed the correct answer – 164 goals – helping Osimhen stay in the game.
The fun TV moment also reminded fans of the close bond between the two African stars. Osimhen has often said Drogba was his football hero while growing up in Lagos. He admired the Ivorian’s strength, finishing ability and performances in big matches, and tried to copy parts of his game.
Their friendship began after Osimhen starred at the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, where Drogba publicly congratulated him. Since then, the Chelsea icon has regularly encouraged the Nigerian striker and offered advice during his career.
The pair have also met at major football events, including the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Drogba later welcomed Osimhen to Galatasaray, where he also enjoyed great success, and has previously spoken about his hope of seeing the Nigerian striker play for Chelsea one day.
