New England Revolution midfielder Alhassan Yusuf was a bundle of delight after scoring a brace to help the Super Eagles comfortably dispatch Jamaica 3-0 and win the 2026 Unity Cup on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.
Yusuf got Nigeria off to a flying start on the night, reacting quickest in the penalty area and finding the back of the net after the Jamaica backline failed to clear a long-throw to give the defending champions a crucial lead inside the first four minutes.
He then put the game beyond doubt in second half stoppage time as he latched onto a precise pass from Philip Otele before opening up his body to curl a beautifully struck shot beyond Reggae Boyz shot-stopper Coniah Boyce-Clarke.
Both strikes were Yusuf’s first goal contributions in Super Eagles colours and the Major League Soccer based midfielder expressed his delight at opening his international account after the game.

“I feel great especially winning the Unity Cup and scoring my first two goals for the country,” Alhassan said after the game. So I am really happy and for sure, my family is proud.
“I played offensively but I wasn’t expecting that early but then it came, I was just in the box, I saw it and then it was a good finish.”
Having helped the Super Eagles secure a fourth consecutive Unity Cup title, Yusuf will now be hoping to play a prominent role once more as Eric Chelle’s men target big wins in their upcoming friendly fixtures against Poland and Portugal.
Nigeria will travel to Warsaw for their June 3 clash against Poland before heading to Leiria where they will take on World Cup bound Portugal one week later.
