Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro’s spell in Serie A may not be over as Inter Milan are moving to regain control of his contract, Footynaija reports.
The 20-year-old spent the season with Pisa Sporting Club, where he impressed despite the team’s struggles and eventual relegation. His performances in midfield, marked by energy, composure on the ball and tactical awareness, convinced Pisa to activate a €7m clause to sign him permanently.
With that move, Inter already pocketed a significant profit on a player they spent less than €1 million to acquire from Remo Stars three years ago.

But the situation has taken a sharp turn. Inter Milan had built a safety net into the original agreement, inserting a buy-back clause worth €8m. That clause now places the Serie A giants firmly in charge of the player’s future, and they are expected to trigger it immediately.
Italian transfer journalist Nicolò Schira reported that Inter had anticipated Pisa’s decision and were always prepared to respond. The plan is simple: allow Pisa to complete the purchase, then activate the buy-back clause and bring Akinsanmiro back to San Siro.

However, #Inter will exercise their buy-back clause, worth €8M, as the club strongly believes in the Nigerian’s potential. ✅

Pisa are condemned to be relegated to Serie B but Inter rate Akinsanmiro highly and are keen to keep him in theit title-winning squad. The club have already tied him down to a long-term contract running until 2030, a clear sign that he is viewed as more than just a prospect. Instead, he is seen as a player who could grow into a key figure in the years ahead.
What happens next will be crucial. Inter are weighing up two main options: integrating him gradually into their first team or sending him out on another loan to continue his development with regular football at a competitive level.
Akinsanmiro was a member of the Super Eagles squad that claimed bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
