Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen had a message for Galatasaray fans after the team’s collapse against Samsunspor at the Samsun Yeni 19 Mayis Stadyumu on Saturday evening, Footynaija.com reports.
Galatasaray went into the encounter knowing that a win would officially crown them champions of the Turkish Super Lig and they got off to a flying start after Osimhen teed up Yunus Akgun for the opening goal of the game with just nine minutes on the clock.
However, the home side found an equalizer less than fifteen minutes later as striker Marius Mouandilmadji neatly finished off a swift counter-attacking move to ensure parity at the interval.

Samsunspor turned the game on its head after the restart with Cherif Ndiaye netting in the 57th minute. Things then went from bad to worse for Galatasaray as goalkeeper Gunay Guvenc saw red after handling the ball outside the box.
With both personnel and home advantage, Samsunspor fully capitalized on the situation as both Mouandilmadji and Ndiaye each notched a brace to secure a comfortable 4-1 victory over the reigning champions.
Speaking after the game, Osimhen admitted that the team’s performance was nowhere near good enough on the day before promising Galatasaray fans an official title coronation in their next Super Lig outing.
Victor Osimhen makes championship vow after apology

“Let’s not get stuck on this game. We have to keep going,” Victor said via Fotomac.
“We need to win at home and declare the championship. Nothing has changed. The team will give everything. We’ll focus on the next match.
“We knew it wouldn’t be that easy to win the title here. We didn’t play well either. We’ll win our next match at home and officially secure the championship. We apologise to the fans. We will look ahead.”

Despite the defeat, Galatasaray remain top of the Super Lig standings with a four-point cushion and just two games to go. This means that victory over Antalyaspor at RAMS Park next weekend will indeed secure a fourth consecutive league triumph for the Istanbul giants.
Meanwhile, Osimhen rendered his fifth assist of the season, bringing his total goal contributions tally up to 25 in 32 appearances across all competitions so far.
