Coventry City midfielder Matt Grimes singled out Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka for praise ahead of the Sky Blues’ EFL Championship encounter with Wrexham at the CBS Arena, Footynaija.com reports.
Onyeka’s mid-season loan move from Brentford to Coventry has proven to be a masterstroke, with the Nigeria international taking to life in the English second tier like a duck to water and helping Frank Lampard’s side secure promotion to the Premier League.
Prior to Onyeka’s arrival, Coventry were on a poor run of three wins and five defeats in ten games which left them trailing two points behind Middlesbrough at the summit.

Since his debut however, the Sky Blues have won nine in thirteen to secure automatic promotion and put themselves in pole position to win the title.
Speaking at a pre-game press conference ahead of the Wrexham clash, Grimes was full of praise for the energetic Nigerian midfielder.

“He’s been a big addition for us, holding down the middle alongside Jack [Rudoni],” the Coventry skipper said.
“When we went through a little bit of a mid-season blip in form, when you can bring someone in that has got so much experience, and such a high quality player, it gives the whole place a big boost.
“He’s been fantastic. You’ve seen his performances and the energy he gives everyone. He has been a really big part of it.”

Onyeka will be in contention for a starting XI spot as Lampard’s charges look to take one step closer to this season’s EFL Championship title.
The Super Eagles midfielder will also be joining Coventry City permanently at the end of his loan spell as stipulated by the promotion clause in his temporary contract with the Sky Blues.
