Nigeria’s Super Eagles have confirmed two high-profile friendlies in June, offering the Super Eagles a stern test against European opposition, Footynaija reports.
The Nigeria Football Federation has lined up fixtures against Poland and Portugal, giving the three-time African champions a valuable opportunity to fine-tune tactics ahead of the global tournament.
Nigeria will first travel to Warsaw to face Poland on June 3 at the PGE National Stadium. The encounter brings back memories of their only previous meeting in 2018, when a calm penalty from Victor Moses secured a narrow win for the Super Eagles. This time, attention may fall on Poland captain Piotr Zieliński, while uncertainty remains over the involvement of Robert Lewandowski, who has hinted at stepping away from international football after his country’s recent qualification disappointment.

A week later, Nigeria will take on Portugal on June 10 in what is expected to be their final friendly before the World Cup. The last meeting between both sides ended in a heavy 4-0 defeat for the Super Eagles in 2022, with Bruno Fernandes among the scorers. Portugal could also welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo, who missed that encounter but remains a central figure for the European side.
These fixtures follow Nigeria’s recent training camp in Antalya, where they recorded a 2-1 win over Iran and a 2-2 draw with Jordan.
The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
