Super Eagles and Sevilla striker Akor Adams described the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as “a great privilege” during a recent interview, Footynaija.com reports.
Adams won the hearts of many Nigerians with his performances at the tournament which took place in Morocco after forming a devastating attacking trident with the likes of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
The 25-year-old striker featured prominently for Eric Chelle’s men throughout the tournament, playing every single game and registering four goal contributions (two goals and assists each) as Nigeria coasted to a third place finish.

Reflecting on the opportunity to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria on such a huge stage, Adams expressed fond memories of his experience despite the failed attempt at a fourth continental triumph.
“I think my confidence was already good. But playing in the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria was a great privilege, something I’m very grateful for,” he told Estadio Deportivo.
“I was able to play every match and experience the whole thing. It’s a shame we couldn’t win the tournament, but it was a very important step in my career.”
Adams also expressed gratitude to Sevilla and the club hierarchy for their support and the confidence they’ve shown in his abilities since he arrived at the Andalusian outfit over one year ago.
“I feel it from the club, the sporting director, and the coach. It’s very positive. I try to work hard every day, not only to fulfill my obligations to the team, but also to fulfill my own goals and objectives. Having that confidence in me is something I’m grateful for.”
Since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, Adams has been a crucial figure for Sevilla, netting four goals in seven starts to help Matias Almeyda’s side put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
