AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori names Super Eagles duo among “most difficult” opponents

AC Milan and England defender Fikayo Tomori has named Super Eagles duo Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman among the toughest attackers he’s come up against over the course of his career, Footynaija.com reports.

Tomori, who began his professional career at Chelsea, has spent the last five years with Serie A giants AC Milan and he’s done well to establish himself as one of the most consistent center-backs in the Italian top flight division.

Since swapping West London for Milan back in the winter transfer window of 2021, England-born defender has racked up 207 appearances across all competitions. He’s also registered seven goals and has one Scudetto and Coppa Italia title each to show for his time with Rossoneri.

Over the course of his career in Italy, Tomori has come up against many top attacking talents, but only a handful have stood out to him. Among these select few are Nigerian stars Osimhen and Lookman. He also mentioned the likes of Paulo Dybala and Lautaro Martinez.

What Fikayo Tomori said about Osimhen and Lookman

“The most difficult players to mark? Dybala, because he operates in spaces where you can’t easily intervene,” Tomori told FC Inter 1908.

“Then there’s Lautaro; he moves exceptionally well. He isn’t the tallest, but his timing is perfect—he often initiates contact before the ball arrives to gain the advantage.

“Osimhen is a force of nature; he never stops running. Lookman is also incredibly difficult to mark—he’s very quick and moves the ball with impressive speed. I even joked with him that if he had joined Inter, we wouldn’t be friends anymore.”

The appearance of Osimhen’s and Lookman’s names on Tomori’s list comes as no surprise. Both players established themselves as world-class talents in Serie A, with Osimhen even leading Napoli to a first Scudetto triumph in 33 years.

Tomori, born in England to Nigerian parents, could’ve been international teammates with Osimhen and Lookman had he pledged allegiance to the Super Eagles.

The Chelsea academy graduate chose to represent England, the country of his birth instead and has just five caps to his name since making his senior debut for the Three Lions back in 2020.
