Former England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was lyrical in praise of Alex Iwobi after the Super Eagles midfielder’s starring display in Fulham’s 3-1 win over Sunderland in the Premier League, Footynaija.com reports.
Following a drab first half that saw both Fulham and Sunderland register a combined tally of just one attempt on target, Iwobi decided to take matters into his own hands at The Stadium of Light.
The Super Eagles star sparked the game into life in the 54th minute after flighting a beautiful cross into the box from the corner flag, allowing striker Raul Jimenez to head Fulham into the lead.

He then ensured all three points for the Cottagers after finishing off a swift counter attacking move in the 85th minutes to wrap up an incredible second half display that also saw Jimenez and Sunderland’s Enzo Le Fee both score from the penalty spot.
Speaking after the game, Carragher, on punditry duties for Sky Sports, praised Iwobi’s versatility and work rate. He also admitted that the Super Eagles star has been one of Fulham’s best players this season.

“For me, he’s one of those players who can play different positions, he’s a manager’s dream, especially a Marco Silva dream,” Carragher said.
“This is a guy who spent a lot of money to bring him from Arsenal to Everton. He then took him from Everton to Fulham. He’s a huge fan and you can understand why.
“Physically, he’s absolutely fantastic. The quality he shows, an assist from a set piece and a lovely finish as well, this quality he’s got is actually underrated. We don’t maybe speak about it enough.
“We speak about other Fulham players and rightly so, but he’s certainly up there with the best players that Fulham have got this season.”

Sunday’s win at The Stadium of Light ended Fulham’s run of three consecutive Premier League defeats while also propelling them into the top half of the standings with 37 points from 27 matches.
The Cottagers will now be looking to build on this momentum going forward. Their next English top flight test will come against a Tottenham Hotspur side that’ll be looking to record a first win under new manager Igor Tudor.
