Nigeria’s Super Eagles players who finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have received their national honours certificates and title documents for houses and land allocations promised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Footynaija.com reports.

The presentation took place on December 22, 2025, at the team’s hotel in Fez, Morocco, ahead of Nigeria’s opening match in the 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.

President Tinubu announced the rewards last year following the Super Eagles’ run to the final of the tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, where Nigeria lost 2-1 to the hosts.

The ceremony was led by National Sports Commission chairman Shehu Dikko, with senior government officials and Nigeria Football Federation representatives in attendance.

Dikko confirmed that most members of the squad were awarded the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON). Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong received the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) after being named Player of the Tournament, while Ahmed Musa and Victor Osimhen were awarded the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

He added that housing allocations in Abuja or Lagos and land grants in the Federal Capital Territory had been fully processed, with allocation letters issued. Cash awards approved by the President are expected to be paid directly into players’ accounts once final documentation is completed.

The NFF said the gesture had lifted spirits in camp as the Super Eagles prepare to face Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but this turned out to be surprisingly useful. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
