Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi and Jérémie Boga have been placed on sick leave after they were violently attacked by angry OGC Nice supporters on Sunday night, Footynaija.com reports.
The confrontation occurred when the team returned from a damaging 3–1 defeat to Lorient, extending their losing streak to six matches.
Around 400 fans gathered at the training ground, some reportedly intoxicated, as frustration over the club’s form spilled into aggression. Two ultras boarded the team bus to air grievances, but tension escalated dramatically once players stepped outside.
According to EuroSport, Moffi and Boga “were punched, kicked and spat on, with some of the blows said to be to their genitals.” Both were also subjected to racist insults. Boga was reportedly targeted over ticket issues, while Moffi was criticised for briefly chatting with Lorient’s former president after the match.
Goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf helped Boga escape, while several staff members, including sporting director Florian Maurice, were also attacked. Security personnel were overwhelmed.

Both players underwent medical examinations on Monday. Moffi was placed on sick leave until Sunday due to “physical and psychological impact.” Boga received a five-day incapacity certificate. The pair have since filed police complaints.
Nice condemned the violence, saying: “The incidents that occurred during this gathering are unacceptable… OGC Nice offers them its full support.”
The UNFP also backed the players, declaring: “The physical and psychological integrity of those who make football is non-negotiable.”
