Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has cleared the air after a viral social media post sparked talk of poor conditions in the Super Eagles camp ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup play-offs clash with Gabon, Footynaija.com reports.
Iwobi joined his international teammates in Rabat this week as preparations for Thursday’s decisive fixture swing into full motion. The team is lodged at the Rive Hotel, a four-star facility in the Moroccan capital.
Earlier on Monday, Iwobi shared a short clip on his social media page showing the view from his hotel room. The video, which featured no commentary, quickly spread online and sparked debate among fans who assumed the midfielder was indirectly criticizing the team’s accommodation.
But the former Arsenal star has now moved to clarify his intentions, stressing that the post was misunderstood.
“You see in life yeah, it’s all about perspective. Because I snapped at the view I have and people are thinking this guy is ungrateful,” Iwobi said in another social media post.
“Brother, I never said one thing. I just did one look like this, never said a word. Because, you see, in life, some people don’t even have yards; some of them don’t have beds.
“Bro, I’m comfy. I’m playing Mario Kart. Anyways, let me go and focus, I have a big game coming up.”

The 28-year-old’s calm response effectively put to rest speculations that he was unhappy with the Super Eagles’ setup.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation has also moved to correct the impression created by the viral clip, explaining that the footage shared online misrepresented the team’s actual lodging.
The Super Eagles are said to be comfortably settling in at the Rive Hotel as they continue fine-tuning their preparations for Thursday’s playoff showdown against Gabon in Rabat.
