Super Eagles’ talismanic striker Victor Osimhen has reiterated his desire to be at the 2026 edition of the FIFA World Cup set to take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada, Footynaija.com reports.
Nigeria failed to secure automatic qualification from Group C after finishing as runners-up to South Africa. But they did enough to secure one of the four available play-off spots reserved for the four best second-placed teams of the qualifying series.
Osimhen played a major role in helping the Super Eagles clinch this play-off berth, particularly after scoring a wonderful hattrick against Benin Republic to set up next month’s crunch play-off semi-final against Gabon.
Now, the 26-year-old is aiming to help Nigeria dispatch Gabon and every other obstacle that will be standing between the Super Eagles and a place in next summer’s Mundial.

“I want to be in the World Cup with my country. I am giving my everything there too,” Osimhen said in quotes revealed by Sporx.
” My focus is here now (Galatasaray). Next month is the World Cup playoffs. I will help my teammates with my goals, assists and everything.”

Having scored six goals in five qualification games, Osimhen will certainly play a central role in Nigeria’s plans as they prepare for the crucial World Cup play-off against Gabon.
The prolific forward has been in red-hot form for Galatasaray, scoring three goals in three appearances since the last international break.
With three more fixtures on the horizon before the November internationals, Osimhen will be keen to maintain his clinical edge and carry that confidence into national duty where his form could be crucial to the Super Eagles’ hopes of securing a World Cup ticket.
