Nigeria’s Super Falcons have qualified for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a 1–1 draw with Benin Republic in Abeokuta sealed a 3–1 aggregate victory, Footynaija.com reports.

After winning the first leg 2–0 in Lome, goals from Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo had put the Falcons firmly in control.

The return leg saw defender Ashleigh Plumptre score her first-ever goal for Nigeria, heading home an Okoronkwo corner in the 12th minute to send the home fans roaring.

Benin, however, fought back bravely and levelled through Yasminath Djibril’s superb free-kick midway through the second half.

Despite the equaliser, Justine Madugu’s side managed the game professionally to ensure safe passage to Morocco 2026.

The result means Nigeria, ten-time African champions, have maintained their remarkable record of qualifying for every edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations since its inception.

They now join hosts Morocco as the first teams confirmed for next year’s finals, another reminder of the Super Falcons’ enduring class and dominance in African football.
