Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest full-back Olaoluwa Aina has provided a progress report on his recovery journey after undergoing a successful surgery on his torn hamstring, Footynaija.com reports.

Aina sustained the injury while on international duty with Nigeria last week. The former Chelsea defender featured for the majority of Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda in a World Cup qualifying game.

Unfortunately, he wound up injured inside ten minutes of the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with South Africa just three days later.

Upon returning to Nottingham Forest, it was confirmed that the 28-year-old had suffered a hamstring injury and was set to undergo surgery, potentially ruling him out for the next three months.

Ola Aina’s update on successful surgery

Following the successful completion of his surgery, Aina took to his social media (Instagram) to update his fans about his condition and express gratitude for the support and messages he’s been receiving.

A post shared by Ola Aina (@olaaina)

“On the 13th of September [four days ago], I had my operation. Thank you for all the support and all the messages and stuff. I just finished having my surgery. It’s my first one, but yeah, I just want to say thank you for all the messages. We move. It’s all in God’s timing; this is God’s plan.” Aina said in his post.

Aina had started in all three of Nottingham Forest’s Premier League matches before the international break. His long-term absence certainly comes as a huge blow for the Tricky Trees, who recently cut ties with Portuguese tactician Nuno Espirito Santo to bring on board another former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglu.
