Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly planning a world record bid for Barcelona’s 16-year-old talent, Lamine Yamal, Soccernet.football understands.

Yamal made history by breaking into Barcelona’s first team at just 15, becoming one of the youngest players in La Liga history. Over the past year, he has shone for both his club and Spain, making him one of the most sought-after prospects in football.

According to reports from Spain’s Mundo Deportivo, PSG are considering a £211 million offer for Yamal as they look for potential replacements for Kylian Mbappe. This bid would surpass their previous world record of £198 million, paid for Neymar in 2017.

In March, Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed that the club had turned down a €200 million (£169 million) offer for Yamal. Laporta stated, “We trust in the boy, his sporting potential, and we don’t need to sell. We are in a process of economic recovery.”

Despite PSG’s interest, Barcelona are determined to keep Yamal, viewing him as central to their future. Yamal’s contract includes a release clause of €1 billion (£846 million), making his departure highly unlikely.

Yamal has impressed at Euro 2024, becoming the youngest player in the tournament’s history.

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente commented on Yamal’s maturity, saying, “He’s a special case because of his age, but his development as a person is just as important.”

Born in Catalonia to a Moroccan father and an Equatoguinean mother, Yamal joined Barcelona’s youth academy at seven and has since grown into one of football’s brightest young stars.
