Victor Boniface has broken his silence after his collapsed move to AC Milan, taking aim at Nigerians who have branded him “unserious” following his failed medicals in Italy, Footynaija.com reports.
The 24-year-old striker, still contracted to Bayer Leverkusen until 2028, launched a fierce defence of his professionalism on Instagram, insisting that blaming him for the medical setback was misguided.
The Super Eagles forward, who has battled serious knee injuries in the past, saw his proposed loan switch to Milan fall through on Sunday after medical examinations reportedly flagged concerns with his right knee.

Some Nigerian fans reacted by accusing him of lacking focus, pointing to his playful social media persona and light-hearted off-field antics. Boniface, however, hit back with sharp words.
On his Instagram story he wrote:
“Boniface is not serious, he’s everywhere. I am at a club like Leverkusen, and Milan want me and I am not serious? So if I were serious, I would be playing for a club on Jupiter. Clowns everywhere!”
According to a report by SempreMilan, the abnormalities in Boniface’s knee were the main reason Milan’s doctors advised against completing the deal. Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes confirmed that negotiations would not be reopened, stressing that the collapse had nothing to do with the forward’s conduct or behaviour.
The incident comes months after Boniface also missed out on a move to Saudi club Al Nassr, leaving his immediate future under scrutiny.
The perception of Boniface as “unserious” has long been debated. Nigerian journalists oftentimes suggest that his comedic online persona risks overshadowing his career achievements.
Boniface, though, has repeatedly said his humour is part of his personality and not a measure of his ambition.
