Victor Osimhen has revealed the emotional reasons behind his headline-making €75 million move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, Footynaija.com reports.

After a sensational loan season that saw him net 37 goals in all competitions and help Galatasaray to a domestic double, the Nigerian striker signed a permanent four-year contract on 31 July 2025. The deal shattered the Turkish transfer record, with Napoli receiving €40 million upfront and another €35 million in structured payments through 2026.

Osimhen’s performances last season were impossible to ignore. He finished as Süper Lig top scorer with 26 goals in 30 matches. His impact on the pitch made Galatasaray push hard to make the deal permanent, and they succeeded in what many are calling the transfer of the decade.

Midway through the celebrations, Osimhen opened up on why he turned down lucrative offers from other top European and Saudi clubs.

“The reason I chose Galatasaray is the fans and my daughter. My daughter loves Galatasaray a lot,” Osimhen said in a heartfelt message reported by Forza Cimbom.

“She chants at home. Her support, along with the passion of the fans, played a big role in my decision. My daughter is more of a Galatasaray fan than I am.”

The Nigerian forward, who turns 27 in December, had options to move elsewhere. Clubs like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain were linked with him in recent months, but Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk played a major part in convincing him.

The move also includes a reported €15 million net annual salary, plus bonuses and a 10 percent sell-on clause for Napoli. Galatasaray presented Osimhen alongside Leroy Sané at a high-profile unveiling at Rams Park in front of thousands of jubilant fans.
