Ademola Lookman’s future at Atalanta has taken a dramatic twist amid mounting interest from Inter Milan, Footynaija.com reports.

According to TMW as per Area Napoli, Nigeria international Lookman has rejected a lucrative contract renewal offer from Atalanta.

The 26-year-old forward, one of the most outstanding performers in Serie A last season, has refused Atalanta’s offer to match Inter’s proposed €4 million annual salary in a bid to retain his services.

Lookman’s decision emphasises his determination to secure a move to the San Siro, where Inter Milan have made him their top attacking target this summer.

Inter already have a personal agreement in place with the Super Eagles star and have submitted a formal bid of €40 million. The former Italian champions are ahead of Barcelona, Arsenal, and Tottenham in the race for Lookman.

However, talks have reached a deadlock, with Atalanta holding out for a figure closer to €50 million plus bonuses. The club has made it clear that the €40 million fee does not meet their valuation of the player, who has two years left on his contract.

Despite Atalanta’s ambition to build their squad around Lookman and challenge on multiple fronts next season, the winger remains firm in his desire to leave. For Inter, the offer on the table is final — no increase is planned, which has resulted in a standoff between two clubs with contrasting transfer strategies.
