Plymouth Argyle head coach Miron Muslic has suggested the club could pursue a permanent move for on-loan striker Muhamed Tijani this summer, Footynaija.com reports.

Tijani, 24, joined Argyle on a season-long loan from Czech side Slavia Prague last July, with an option to buy included in the agreement. While a succession of hamstring injuries has limited the Nigerian forward’s involvement this season, he has begun to make an impact in recent weeks.

The former Flying Eagles star scored a late winner in the 2-1 victory over Sheffield United earlier this month and made just his second league start in the 3-1 win over Coventry City on Easter Monday, playing 79 minutes before being substituted.

Glad to be on the scoresheet for my team at this crucial stage of the season and grateful to God for the Man of the Match award…

Plymouth Argyle sit bottom of the Championship but could still escape relegation should they win their last two games of the season.

Tijani is expected to lead the attack for Argyle when they face Preston North End at the Deepdale this weekend.

“We are going to have a big bear up front on Saturday and let’s see how long Tijani can stay on the pitch,” said Muslic as per Plymouth Herald.

“He looked pretty solid the last time but I didn’t want to take the risk the last 10, 15 minutes. He wanted to continue but I just had this hamstring injuries in my head and I wanted to protect him.”

Muslic is clearly a fan of Tijani’s profile: “I’m used to having a target player. We can always play the ball forward so we can push up, we can progress, he can link up the play for us. He can keep the ball for us so we can actually breathe a little bit and we can get closer to the goal.”

Asked if the club will exercise the option to buy, Muslic said: “We are doing our jobs in the background. I’m so happy for Tijani he could finally show himself as a starter.”

And would he like to keep the striker next season? “Of course, 100 per cent.”

Tijani has made 11 league appearances this season, scoring twice and adding one assist in 308 minutes of football.
