FC Dallas centre-back Osaze Urhoghide has officially expressed his willingness to play for Nigeria, publicly declaring his desire to represent the Super Eagles at senior level, Footynaija.com reports.

The 24-year-old defender, born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and raised in England, is eligible to represent all three countries internationally.

The former Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday player made his senior breakthrough in England before playing in Scotland, Belgium, France, and now the United States.

For what was described as a “club-record fee”, he joined FC Dallas in February 2025 after a solid campaign with Amiens SC, where he made 41 appearances and scored three goals in the French Ligue 2.

In a report published by Punch, Urhoghide stated:

“I am ready to play for my fatherland, Nigeria. I have informed family members of my readiness to play for the Eagles. I am also using this opportunity to let the Nigeria Football Federation know that I am ready.”

Urhoghide has never represented England or the Netherlands at any level, meaning he remains eligible and can now play for Nigeria without requiring a nationality switch.

A natural centre-back who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, Urhoghide is known for his tackling, aerial dominance, and positional discipline. His playing style has drawn comparisons to former Super Eagles defender Austin Eguavoen.

His recent move to MLS has seen him become a regular starter at FC Dallas. According to Transfermarkt, he has now crossed 100 senior appearances across five different countries.

With Nigeria’s backline currently in transition under new head coach Eric Chelle, Urhoghide’s availability adds to the growing pool of defensive options for the national team.
