Paul Onuachu has revealed that former Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor, Sweden legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Bosnia and Herzegovina forward Edin Dzeko are among the footballers he has admired throughout his career, Footynaija reports.
The Super Eagles striker made the revelation while discussing his football inspirations in an interview with Trabzonspor Magazine via Turkish outlet Gunebakis.
“Adebayor, first and foremost. Zlatan is also like him; they are both very special footballers,” Onuachu said. “There are other players I watch a lot, like Edin Dzeko. I like his playing style. So I have many idols.”

The choice of Adebayor and Ibrahimovic is notable because both forwards built their careers around their height, strength and ability to score in different ways. Onuachu, who stands at about 2.01 metres, has also developed a reputation for using his aerial ability to trouble defenders.
Dzeko, meanwhile, fits Onuachu’s admiration for intelligent centre-forwards. The Bosnia international has played for clubs including Manchester City, Roma and Inter Milan, while Ibrahimovic enjoyed a career across Europe with Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
Onuachu has previously named Adebayor and Ibrahimovic among his childhood idols, while also mentioning former Nigeria striker Nwankwo Kanu and calling Lionel Messi the greatest player in football history.
The 32-year-old is currently with Trabzonspor after returning to the Turkish club following his previous spell there. He scored 26 goals in all competitions during the 2025-26 season and shared the Turkish league Golden Boot after scoring 22 league goals.
