Venezia manager Davide Nicola was full of praise for Super Eagles striker Akor Adams after his winning goal secured a 1-0 victory over Napoli to give the Italian side their first Serie A win of the season, Footynaija.com reports.
The Nigerian forward proved decisive at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium on Saturday, scoring in the 49th minute to hand Nicola a winning start following his recent appointment as head coach.
Adams chased down a long ball from Simon Sohm before holding off Napoli defender Amir Rrahmani and firing towards goal. His effort took a deflection on its way past goalkeeper Alex Meret, but it was enough to settle the contest against the Partenopei.

Speaking after the match, Nicola was reluctant to single out individuals, instead stressing that every player in his squad had something to offer. However, he acknowledged Adams’ commitment, personality and potential for further development.
“I’m not crazy about talking about individual players. Every player you have has quality,” the Venezia boss said, as quoted by Tuttosport.
“He puts his heart and soul into it, he came here wanting to help, and he has some very important qualities.
“He listens, he has personality, he helps the team and he has incredible room for improvement.”
The victory was a significant boost for Venezia, who had lost their opening league matches and parted ways with former manager Giovanni Stroppa after a difficult start to their campaign.
Despite Napoli enjoying the greater share of possession and creating several opportunities, Venezia held firm defensively, with goalkeeper Filip Stankovic producing a string of important saves, including a penalty stop against Kevin De Bruyne.
Adams’ decisive contribution also offered encouragement after a challenging start to the league season. The striker had previously scored against Fiorentina in September, but his latest effort proved even more valuable by delivering three points.
Venezia remain in the relegation zone despite the win, meaning there is still work to do. However, Adams’ goal and Nicola’s early endorsement provide a platform for the club to build on as they look to climb the Serie A table.
