Super Eagles forward Moses Usor is a doubt for LASK’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Liverpool after sustaining a shoulder injury in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Rapid Wien, Footynaija reports.
LASK head coach Dietmar Kühbauer confirmed that the Nigerian winger suffered the injury during the Austrian Bundesliga encounter at the Raiffeisen Arena, raising concerns over his availability for Wednesday’s European fixture.
Usor came on in the 61st minute, replacing Austrian striker Christoph Lang, but his appearance was cut short after just 12 minutes. The 24-year-old was forced off and replaced by United States forward Samuel Adediran.
Providing an update after the defeat, Kühbauer remained hopeful that the injury would not keep the Nigeria international sidelined for long.
“Mo has a slight injury to his shoulder joint. I hope it won’t take too long,” Kühbauer said as per Laola.
Despite the encouraging assessment from his coach, Usor faces a race against time to recover before LASK host Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
The potential absence of the winger would be a setback for Kühbauer, whose side are preparing for a demanding run of eight matches across all competitions over the next four weeks.
Usor had enjoyed a memorable September international break, making his senior debut for Nigeria and scoring the winning goal in the Super Eagles’ 2-1 victory over Madagascar in Uyo.
LASK will hope the injury proves minor and that the forward can return to training in time to feature against Liverpool.
