Rangers have been urged to consider selling Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez while the Scottish giants can still command a significant transfer fee for the Nigerian, Footynaija.com reports.
Fernandez has been an important figure at Rangers since joining the club from Peterborough United in the summer of 2025 and enjoying an impressive debut campaign in Scotland.
The centre-back won Rangers’ Player of the Season and also earned a place in the PFA Scotland Team of the Season after playing a key role in their title challenge last term.

However, the 25-year-old has endured a slower start to the new campaign, with his performances coming under scrutiny despite his importance to the team.
Fernandez was also the subject of transfer interest during the summer, although Rangers ultimately decided against parting ways with the defender.
Scottish journalist and broadcaster Johnny McFarlane now believes the club may need to revisit that decision and carefully consider the timing of a potential sale.

“If Manny Fernandez was 22, then it’s a different market, I think,” McFarlane said, via Ibrox News.
“At 25, which I think he turns in mid-November, in a month, that is going to be something that means Rangers have to accelerate a transfer move.”
McFarlane’s argument is that Rangers could risk seeing Fernandez’s market value decline if they wait too long before deciding to cash in on one of the Scottish Premiership’s most valuable defenders.
He believes the club must act before the defender reaches the latter stages of his twenties, when his age could make a major transfer more difficult

“All these factors play in to when is the right time to move a player on, once a player gets to 27/28, it starts to become an issue,” he added.
Fernandez is currently with the Super Eagles ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against Russia and will be hoping for an opportunity to impress Eric Chelle.
The Rangers defender was an unused substitute in Nigeria’s recent AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau and will now look to strengthen his case for increased involvement with the national team.
