Alex Iwobi will captain Nigeria against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday as the Super Eagles chase a second straight victory in their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, Footynaija reports.
According to a Daily Post report, the Fulham midfielder takes over the armband from Wilfred Ndidi, who led Nigeria during their dramatic 2-1 comeback against Madagascar in Uyo.
Iwobi played a decisive role in that victory, supplying the assist for George Ilenikhena’s equaliser in first-half stoppage time before substitute Moses Usor completed the turnaround in the 65th minute.

His promotion to captain adds another responsibility ahead of a potentially pivotal Group L clash, with both nations entering the fixture on three points.
Guinea-Bissau opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Tanzania, with Franculino Djú scoring in the 33rd minute before Mama Baldé doubled the advantage in the 58th.
Nigeria, meanwhile, had to recover from Ehsan Kari’s 16th-minute opener before Ilenikhena and Usor rescued the points.
Eric Chelle’s side are now ready for battle at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro knowing another victory would take them to six points and put serious pressure on their rivals.
The Super Eagles will also draw confidence from their previous visit to Bissau, where Moses Simon scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory during the last AFCON qualifying campaign.
Kick-off is scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time, with Iwobi wearing the armband as Nigeria pursue another crucial step towards AFCON 2027.
