Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has overcome his recent injury setback but will not feature in Lazio’s friendly against Arezzo on Sunday as the Serie A side continue to take a cautious approach with his recovery, Footynaija.com reports.
Dele-Bashiru suffered a grade-one hamstring strain in his right thigh during Lazio’s Serie A opener against Bologna on August 24, forcing him off in the second half of the encounter.
The injury subsequently ruled the Nigerian out of Lazio’s meetings with Genoa, Udinese and AC Milan, while also denying him a place in Nigeria’s squad for the ongoing 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

However, the 25-year-old has now moved past the physical problem and is closing in on a full return to regular training with the Lazio squad.
According to Lazio News 24, Dele-Bashiru has already overcome the issue that kept him out of training in recent days but has been left out of Sunday’s friendly against Arezzo as Lazio prioritise caution over rushing him back into action.
Manager Gennaro Gattuso is reportedly unwilling to take any unnecessary risks with players returning from injury, particularly with Lazio’s squad currently depleted by international call-ups.
As a result, Dele-Bashiru is expected to resume regular training with his teammates at the beginning of next week, when the workload will increase ahead of the club’s next competitive fixture.

The former Sheffield United midfielder had made a positive start to the new campaign before his setback and remains an important option for Gattuso because of his ability to operate in different midfield roles.
For Nigeria, his return will also come as welcome news after the injury prevented him from being involved in the latest AFCON qualifying matches.
Lazio will now hope Dele-Bashiru can complete his recovery without further setbacks and be fully fit and raring to go when Serie A action resumes after the international break, with Monza awaiting them at the Stadio Olimpico.
