Super Eagles forward Moses Usor has revealed his desire to emulate Nigeria centurion Moses Simon after making a dream start to his international career, Footynaija.com reports.
The LASK forward marked his Super Eagles debut in memorable fashion after coming off the bench to score the winning goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in Uyo.
Usor came on in the second half with the game level and needed just 4 minutes to make his mark, producing a brilliant individual effort to complete Nigeria’s comeback.

The 24-year-old had previously received a call-up for the 2026 Unity Cup but was unable to honour the invitation because of injury, before earning another opportunity for the opening two AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
He made the most of his chance against Madagascar and also shared the pitch with Simon, who reached 100 appearances for the Super Eagles during the encounter.
The milestone made the occasion even more special for Usor, who has identified the experienced winger as a player he wants to follow in his international career.
“I want to be like Moses Simon, his consistency, his humility, his commitment to the team over so many seasons”, he told Footy-Africa.
“It’s special to share the name Moses and go through this night with him. Getting to 100 caps for Nigeria is a massive achievement.
For Usor, however, the memorable debut is only the beginning. He became the fastest Nigerian player to score as a substitute on a competitive debut after finding the net just 4 minutes after his introduction, surpassing Akor Adams’ previous record.
Despite the immediate impact, Usor insists he is focused on building a long-term career with the Super Eagles rather than allowing one impressive performance to define him.
“Now it’s about work. One goal doesn’t make a career. I want to stay humble, keep learning from the senior players, and keep fighting for my shirt. I want Nigerians to know I’m here to give everything.”
Usor will now hope his impressive introduction to international football earns him another opportunity when Nigeria face Guinea-Bissau in their next AFCON 2027 qualifier. The Super Eagles will be looking to build on their opening victory, with Usor hoping to continue his promising start.
