Former Super Eagles coach James Peters has questioned what will happen after the Nigeria Football Federation’s fact-finding committee completes its work, warning that another report will mean little if Nigerian football does not act on what the panel finds, Footynaija.com reports.
The NFF set up the committee after a poor run by Nigeria’s national teams, with particular attention on the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Nigeria had appeared at every edition of the tournament since 1991 before the setback.
The committee is headed by former NFF General Secretary Fanny Amun and includes former Nigeria U20 coach Ladan Bosso, ex-Super Falcons captain Desire Oparanozie, former Super Eagles captain Mutiu Adepoju and former FIFA referee Alex Mana.

Peters has no problem with the people chosen to lead the exercise. In fact, the former coach said he trusts the committee’s leadership and believes it can help Nigerian football if its members are allowed to work freely. His concern is what follows.
Peters warns NFF over committee recommendations
Speaking on the NFF’s decision, via a report by Sports 247, Peters questioned why another committee was needed in the first place, describing the situation as a “failure of leadership” in Nigerian football.
“There was no need to set up a committee in the first place,” Peters said.
He still believes the panel can make a difference, but only if it has the freedom to investigate the problems properly and present its findings without interference.
“I trust the leadership of the fact-finding committee,” he said.
For Peters, however, the real test will come after the committee submits its report.
“If the committee is given the freedom to carry out their duties and its recommendations are fully followed, then it can make a difference,” he said.
“Otherwise, it is a waste of everyone’s time.”
That warning comes as pressure continues to grow around the NFF after the Super Falcons’ World Cup setback and the wider struggles of Nigeria’s national teams.
