Terem Moffi’s future at OGC Nice is moving closer to a decision, with Beşiktaş joining Hamburger SV in the race for the Nigerian striker, Footynaija reports.
Nice have made it clear that Moffi is no longer part of their plans. The 27-year-old has been placed on the transfer list and was also left out of the club’s pre-season matches, including the meeting with Juventus.
The timing makes a transfer likely. Moffi has only one year left on his Nice contract, meaning the French club risk losing him for nothing next summer if they fail to sell him now. His current market value is around €8 million(approximately ₦12.6 billion), a major drop from the €22.5 million Nice paid for him.
Hamburger have already moved ahead with negotiations as they look to improve an attack that struggled for goals after their return to the Bundesliga. The German club see Moffi as a possible partner for new signing Patson Daka and hope his contract situation can help them agree a cheaper deal.
Beşiktaş, however, could offer Moffi a different path. The Turkish giants are looking for an experienced striker and believe his strength, movement and record in France could make him an important part of their attack.
Moffi’s recent numbers are not impressive. During his loan spell at Porto last season, he scored only twice and provided one assist in 15 appearances. He was still recovering from the serious ACL injury that disrupted his career.
But his Ligue 1 record shows why clubs admire his profile. Moffi has scored 54 goals in 148 league games for Lorient and Nice. The next move could determine whether he can rebuild his career or remain stuck on the sidelines.
